Writing Update August 2022

We are back in the bus again. Finally! After a whirlwind summer, including the amazing 2022 Realm Makers conference in New Jersey, we are settling back into a work routine. And, there is plenty to do.

Not only do I plan (keyword “plan”) to have all three Demon Tide books written yet this year, we have an upcoming release with our author, Bryan Mitchell and his debut title, Infernal Fall October 25.  So, let me give you a quick update on all of it.

Demon Tide

Book 2 is underway. Matt, Luca, Bennet, and Nolan are reeling with the effects of what happened in Book 1, and are going to have to make some pretty serious decisions as world governments begin to descend into chaos.

As I write, I am often amazed how my mind comes up with details. Some of the strangest character personalities, plot twists, and settings seem to emerge out of nowhere. Needless to say, I am really enjoying writing this one. If you like ancient civilizations, demon monsters, and evil people with world-dominating aspirations, you’ll like this one.

Infernal Fall

Bryan’s book is slated to release October 25, right before Halloween. We have put Infernal Fall’s editor, Dawn Carter to the test with all of the changes and last-minute edits. She has been amazing through the entire process.

The next step is to get the final manuscript into formatting, and ready the illustrations, cover details, and front matter. And of course, spreading the word. If you haven’t yet, get on Bryan’s email list for updates. Don’t sleep on this one, it will be a pretty awesome book. *Hint: Preorder will be coming late September!

Bus Adventures

We are off into the great unknown! (Actually, we know exactly where we are going.)

This year, we will be staying somewhat close to home and touring the Upper Peninsula of Michigan again. The adventure starts next week with the Porcupine Mountains Music Festival on the far west side. This will be our first time going, so we have no idea what to expect. Super cool detail, though, as the setting for my first book The Watcher Key, originated in this area. Passing through a few years ago, I dropped off the first book to the local White Pine Library. We plan to drop off the second and third book this time around.

We will also be zipping around (more like chugging diesel) the West parts of the UP, hunting mushrooms and hiking waterfalls near the Keweenaw Peninsula, Marquette, and all the tiny remote towns in between. I plan to find some trout streams to fish as well.

We will end up at some point in Iron Mountain for the Lake Antoine Crafty Flea for Stacy to peddle her wares with some friends of ours, Josh and Sarah Chadd of Blade of Truth Publishing.

As you can see, there is plenty going on, and adventures to be had. Thank you all for keeping up with me!

With that, I’m signing off.

Standing Against the Darkness

You see it every day. The people you work with, interact with at the grocery store, church, or on the road. Empty. Discouraged. Defeated.

If you were to stop and ask them, they might tell you it’s something they are going through–a family issue, some financial concerns, cancer. But like you, they know it goes deeper than that. There’s something wrong with the world today.

If you were like me, reading a book about Hell wasn’t the first on the TBR list. It might haven’t been ever on there, in fact, had I not forced myself to take a peek.
