Writing Update February 2023

Ode To Warmer Days

Winter, your days are numbered. Oh Spring, come quickly. Thy sunkissed skies are missed, and the longer days, too. Linger not, warm weather, and chase away the winter blues.

Demon Tide book #2 is now complete! It’s been several months since diving into the first chapters, and frankly I am glad to wrap this one up. Not that it was boring, or the writing getting tedious, but the last few chapters really tested my writing abilities.

I promised myself when I began writing that I would always grow as an author, so I’ve been pushing myself to test the limits of what I could do. In this book, I really worked at deepening dialogue with my characters, and digging into some more technical language to broaden my world-building.

When you finally read it, you may wonder what I struggled with so much, and I wouldn’t blame you. But believe me, there are blood, sweat, and tears on those pages. Okay, maybe not actual blood, sweat, and tears, but there was plenty of time and thought put into each of the scenes.

Perhaps the most difficult scene I struggled with was just as things started to get really intense with Matt, Luca, Bennet, Nolan, Jenna, Jordan, Kendis, and Jacy as they encountered some really evil beings. I wanted to show the emotion from each of the characters, not just write about it.

I went ahead an included chapter #2 in the newsletter, and I would love to hear your thoughts! I promise I take criticism well:)

I am going to get back to writing now. There is much to do, and I’m itching to dig into book #3 of the series. I think some of the characters are going to see some internal conflicts they will have to resolve, and the Shadow Government will be ready and willing to exploit any weaknesses they find.

That’s all for now. Thank you all for putting up with my rambling. God is good.

You see it every day. The people you work with, interact with at the grocery store, church, or on the road. Empty. Discouraged. Defeated.

If you were to stop and ask them, they might tell you it’s something they are going through–a family issue, some financial concerns, cancer. But like you, they know it goes deeper than that. There’s something wrong with the world today.

Never. Lose. Hope.

If you were like me, reading a book about Hell wasn’t the first on the TBR list. It might haven’t been ever on there, in fact, had I not forced myself to take a peek.
