Writing Update June 2023

This summer is shaping up to be a work one. Between publishing books, Stacy’s markets with FlannelnChubs, and other work to keep the bills paid, we will likely be staring at the computer screen until our eyes go blurry.

That being said, we will need to do our best to get out to the beach whenever possible. Not long ago, we tested (ice cold) water up at Silver Lake here in Michigan and had a short nap in the sand. With the hot weather the past few weeks, no doubt the water will likely be warmer now!

If you haven’t been up to Silver Lake, it’s worth a visit, as are many coastal towns on Lake Michigan. If you love sand dunes, lighthouses, ice cream parlors, Kayaking, Fishing, and small towns with quirky-beachy vibes, head on up. Some of our favorites are Traverse City, Petoskey, Mackinaw City (and Mackinac Island), Ludington, Pentwater, Holland, and the pretentious little town of Harbor Springs. If you want details on some of those places, my wife has begun compiling a master list of fun places to visit in the mitten state.

So what am I up to with my writing? I started book three of Demon Tide! Not sure what the title will be, but I’ve got some ideas. By the way, the first draft of book one is underway. Whoa, is all I have to say. I hired the right guy for the job! Shoutout to JCalebdesign.com

Standing Against the Darkness

You see it every day. The people you work with, interact with at the grocery store, church, or on the road. Empty. Discouraged. Defeated.

If you were to stop and ask them, they might tell you it’s something they are going through–a family issue, some financial concerns, cancer. But like you, they know it goes deeper than that. There’s something wrong with the world today.

Never. Lose. Hope.

If you were like me, reading a book about Hell wasn’t the first on the TBR list. It might haven’t been ever on there, in fact, had I not forced myself to take a peek.

  1. Hello, Troy and Stacy:
I’m a Christian epic adventure fantasy writer, from Saint Joseph, MI, attending my first writer’s convention in MO on July 13-15, 2023; I need to choose my first-ever agent for an in-person pitch. I’m now splitting my 180,000-word high fantasy novel after the first climax, 80,000 words in, per my cousin Jerry Jenkins’s rec. Therefore, I will soon have two books ready to go, LOTR-like in a Stone Age world. I’d love to communicate with you; I have staying power for a long series, as well as explosive creativity in my delightful fantasy world. My life experience is vast, as a 55-year old family physician with fibromyalgia, married 32 years, father of five: I’m a long-time student of humanity, and I have things to say, all show-don’t-tell, very musically written. I’d like 100 million readers to enjoy my tremendous and redemptive discoveries. Might you be the ones to help me get there? TAT 269-930-1349
